Hey Friends,

I’ve been a little quiet with the blog, but there’s been so much happening at Swish and Swoon that I have to fill you in!

First of all, we’ve got a bunch of beautiful items from Joie, Equipment, and Cleobella in stock.  (I literally have shelves full of buttery calf leather purses just waiting to get on your shoulder.)

If you follow us on Instagram (@shopswishandswoon), you know we wrapped up shooting for our fall lookbook last week. Seriously, I didn’t know my job could be this much fun! I’ll be getting the photos in next week and then, BAM, our items will be up. Lots of steals that I can’t wait to share.

I’m headed to a major international fashion convention this week, where I’ll be discovering the latest up and coming designers to add to the shop. I’ll be keeping my eye out for high quality pieces made from elegant materials. Stay tuned!

For those of you who are new ’round here, I would like to introduce you to my mini helper, Selah!  She loves lining up packages for the post, and you can find her “ohhhing and ahhhing” over anything floral.

The other day Selah asked to look at pictures on my phone. In that moment I realized that 90% of my current photos are of clothes. And I started feeling that mom guilt creep in. Before opening up Swish and Swoon shop, my phone exclusively captured sweet moments with my children. This balance of motherhood and work is a difficult one for me to wrap my head around, but I’ve noticed when I have my own thing goin’ on I walk around feeling more fulfilled. In turn, I think it helps me to be a better mom.

Processed with VSCOcam with m4 preset

EVERYTHING in the entire shop is freshly marked down! Now’s your chance to get extra mark downs on already marked down items.  It’s a great chance to get a start on your holiday shopping.

Cardigan: Gifted from Ever+Mi Crush, Necklace: Gifted from Pink Lemonade, Skirt: Target

Normal day, let me be aware of the treasure you are. Let me learn from you, love you, bless you before you depart. Let me not pass you by in quest of some rare and perfect tomorrow. Let me hold you while I may, for it may not always be so. One day I shall dig my nails into the earth, or bury my face in the pillow, or stretch myself taut, or raise my hands to the sky and want, more than all the world, your return. // Mary Jean Iron

Isn’t that the truth? I’ve been treasuring up these normal days in my heart.

Such an exhausting-

so joyful my heart might burst-

sometimes lonely-

but I’m never alone-

You guys are wonderful and supportive and awesome.  One of the things I like about blogging is the chance to give stuff away that I love.   And ya’ll know what a huge fan I am of Anthropologie.  Mary Beth from Annapolis and Company and I pulled together a group of lovely bloggers who joined with us to give away a $200 gift card to Anthropologie!  These are some of our favorite bloggers – the ones we truly love to read and interact with. Check out their blogs below.  I think you’ll find everyone so fun to get to know if you don’t know them already!

We’ve set up a super simple giveaway. To enter, use the handy Rafflecopter tool. It just takes a couple clicks to enter, without ever leaving the giveaway. Awesome, huh?  And also, don’t let the number of entries overwhelm you. Each person actually gets multiple entries, so your odds are much better than you think!

We went to the county fair on Saturday morning.  Selah was fascinated by everything and amused by the animals. Especially the goats. One of them tried to eat her dress.

It was the highlight of the trip.

And of course, the food was to die for. We took it easy and only got a side order of those glorious onion rings. Oh man those onion rings. We get them every year. A regular family tradition.

Because I’m only a few weeks postpartum, we mainly just stuck to the garden and farm area. Aaaand we may have broken a few rules by actually touching the produce.

Our conversations went like this:
Me: Babe, just put her in the corn. The picture will be awesome!
Travis: Um, okay but only because your from the Midwest.
Me: Yeah, what are they going to do, kick us out!?
Selah: Says nothing but is listening. She’s always listening! Not my finest moment as her mother.

A worker (they have people there who’s job is to protect the produce from people like us!) half heartily told us to please get out of the corn. I think he couldn’t deny us this photo opp so he let Travis snap one before we jumped down, capturing this priceless look on Selah’s face of, I don’t know who’s mother that is.

Where was Duke during this whole escapade, you ask? Sleeping like a baby the entire time. My kinda Saturday morning.

Our neighbor gave this hammock to us.  Well technically, it was left on the  curb with a FREE sign taped to it.  Thank you, kind neighbors, for the freebie.  You’ve made one pregnant mama and 2 year old very happy!  We spent a good chunk of our Sunday swinging under the old olive tree.  Reading books, and soaking up the bits of afternoon sun that shone down on us through the leaves like little spotlights.  It was a lazy weekend indeed, and thankfully I have an understanding husband who was happy to spend his father’s day in the front yard with his little family.  We’ve started dreaming more and more about what life will be like with our little boy, and we are bursting with excitement and anticipation.

It should also be noted I’ve come to a standoff with my closet.  I stubbornly refuse to buy any new item of clothing for this last week of pregnancy, but my choices of garments are growing increasingly slim.  At least I have accessories to keep things interesting!  This necklace is my current favorite, and just happens to be made out of the softest, buttery jersey that drapes lightly around my neck.  It makes the plainest of tanks look beautiful!
